About Waye Wynn
With 28 years in education and the last 10 years specializing in EdTech, I’ve seen firsthand how technology can transform schools—for better or worse. At Alii, I make sure my team starts the day with a dose (or a punishment) of my bad puns, earning me the unofficial title of "The PUN-isher."
When I’m not making my colleagues groan at my wordplay, I’m tackling one of the biggest financial challenges schools face: manual and outdated processes that slow them down. My advice? AP automation isn’t just a time-saver—it’s a game-changer for financial efficiency.
My workday officially starts after 2-3 cups of coffee and 20 pushups (not necessarily in that order). My go-to drink? A lactose-free flat white with 1 sugar.
Outside of work, swimming is a huge part of my life—whether it’s my own training, volunteering at swim events, or serving as President of the Parents & Friends committee at my kids’ school. If there’s water involved, I’m probably there!
How long have you been in the industry?
Many Many Years. Working in Education totalling 28 years But specifically in Education Technology for 10 years
If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do at Alii, what would it be?

What’s one financial challenge you see schools struggle with the most?
Keeping up with budgets while juggling day-to-day operations. When invoices pile up and approvals take too long, it's easy to lose track of spending, leading to budget surprises down the line.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a school considering AP automation?
Just get started, you don't have to overhaul everything at once. Automate one process, like invoice approvals, and build from there. The time and stress you save will make you wonder why you didn't do it sooner!
